No Big Pay Day for Stolen Credit Card Numbers
Credit card numbers are not worth as much as you think. That is correct. There is very little return on investment when it comes to committing credit card fraud. According a recent study by Kaspersky Lab, U.S. credit cards are not that valuable on the black market. The research found that German credit cards, which sold for $6.00 a piece., while U.S. Visa cards sold for only $2.00.
We applaud this kind of research and hopefully it will make the bad guys think twice about trying to steal and sell stolen credit card numbers. Unfortunately, rogue hacker Albert Gonzales had the right idea by going for large numbers of credit and debit card numbers. But, look what happened to him. So, you see, crime does not pay!
