Many CEOs Don’t Consider Their Companies Vulnerable to Data Breaches
Did you all know that most CEOs do not think that their companies are vulnerable to data breaches? And if attacked, they are confident in their ability to combat the breach — according to a recent study by Ounce Labs and Ponemon Institute. The study also found that the executives who report to the CEO have a completely different perspective and feel vulnerable and ill-equipped to deal with an attack.
The survey also found that 82 percent of senior executives said their organization has experienced a data breach, with 94 percent saying they’ve been hit in the last six months. About 53 percent say they’re attacked on a daily or even hourly basis. So, what is the take away? Data breaches are real and they happen.
While confidence is an admirable trait in the CEO, it sounds like many are actually too confident and the side-effect of this behavior can be devastating. The good news is that many of the executives that report to the CEO are worried and, most likely, have a data breach plan in place. We hope…for their sake.
