ITAC Sentinel Built on Best in Class Technology Platform
The market for identity theft protection services is growing and so is confusion about the level of protection they offer, according to a new report by Javelin Research & Strategy.
The 2009 Consumer Identity Protection Services Scorecard looked at 20 services ranging from $24 to $29.95 a year. “The highest-ranked offerings in the report are comprehensive and match most closely to the prevention or detection of the most damaging criminal methods” said Mary Monahan, Managing Partner & Research Director for Javelin Strategy & Research. “Knowing which services offer great protection is critical because U.S. new-account identity fraud rose to $18B last year, but the availability of free offerings and the myriad of converging, fee-based services makes it difficult to choose.”
Readers who are looking for a breach solution should note only three services were ranked by Javelin as best-in-class, including one from Intersections Inc. that uses the same technology behind ITAC Sentinel®.
Key Findings Of Javelin’s Scorecard:
- Identity fraud rose to $48 billion last year, which Javelin attributes to the economy.
- More than one in ten US adults has been the victim of ID fraud.
- Products are converging rapidly with vendors copying the services of other vendors.
- Many vendor products sound the same and consumers often don’t know what to select.
- Demand is high from companies suffering data breaches, which occur as industries such as healthcare increasingly place records online.
