Educating The Young About Cyber Crimes
All too often, we point fingers at out political leaders and government agencies regarding cyber crime protection. Of course, the ultimate accountability does reside with law makers and those whose jobs are to protect us from cyber and physical threats. What we often don’t highlight are nonprofits working hard to educate consumers and business owners on the perils and challenges in dealing with this issue.
We recently came across a new online resource from the National Cyber Security Alliance called Stay Safe Online, and it is a most excellent grass roots resource for educating parents, children and small business owners on to protect themselves and their businesses online. The site features K-12 course materials, information on a video/podcast contest, tips for protecting your computers, as well as information on the C-SAVE program. C-SAVE is an initiative where IT and security experts volunteer their time and go to schools to education children on computer safetly.
We applaud the National Cyber Security Alliance’s efforts. It’s organizations like these that will ensure that future generations will not have to deal with the scourge of cyber crime that has become such an issue for us today. Not only are these children learning how to use computers safely, but they are also gaining the wisdom to potentially be cyber security leaders in the future. Kudos National Cyber Security Alliance.
