In today’s Internet-driven PR world, we will see many faux news stories and press releases from companies offering very outlandish things. Remember the Google Gulp announcement? While many of these stories certainly are funny and it helps companies build brand loyalty through humor, these April Fool’s Day announcement can cause some confusion, and even make consumer vulnerable to offers that seem “too good to be true.” The NY Times pulled together this article that offers tips on how to separate “fact from fiction” when it comes to web hoaxes today.
