All Virginia Health Data Backed-Up; Refute of Cyber Criminal’s Claim

Our readers may recall our post last week where we hinted that there was not much progress in the criminal investigation of a cyber hacker that is holding the a $10 million dollars ransom over the State of Virginia. Well, it seems that the investigation is still continuing (meaning we don’t know much at this point), but there is some good news to report.

It seems that the the vital prescription data was backed-up and it is safe. That is definitely good news, but it begs the question. What about the copy of the data that the bad guy is holding onto? Did the criminal sell it on the open market as he/she claimed to do by last Thursday? If anyone has any additional information to share regarding this story, please let us know.
